Detailed introduction:

Common Rail is the product manufactured by our company’s joint venture (Wuhan) with the UK listed company, SENIOR FLEXONICS which has a history of over 100 years in continuous improvement of engine function and fuel efficiency.

Common rail EFI technology is a way of fuel supply to completely separate the generation of injection pressure from injection process in a closed-loop system composed of high-pressure fuel pump, pressure sensor and Electronic Control Unit (ECU). High-pressure fuel pump delivers fuel into common rail and the accurate control of fuel pressure in common rail makes high-pressure pipe pressure irrelevant to engine speed. It greatly improves the situation that fuel pressure of diesel engine varies with engine speed.

Common rail system consists of five parts: high-pressure fuel pump, common rail cavity with high-pressure pipe, fuel injector, ECU, various sensors and actuators. Fuel supply pump delivers fuel from fuel tank to the fuel inlet of high-pressure fuel pump. High-pressure fuel pump is driven by engine, fuel is pressurized and delivered to common rail cavity, and then solenoid valves control fuel injector of each cylinder to spray fuel at the corresponding time.

Pilot injection happens before main injection and injects a small part of fuel into cylinder. This part of fuel is premixed or partially combusted in cylinder to shorten the ignition delay period of main injection. In this way, both pressure rise rate and peak pressure in cylinder will drop, engine operation will be stable and lower temperature in cylinder will reduce NOx emissions. Pilot injection can also decrease the possibility of fire and improve cold-start performance of common rail system.

The injection rate is reduced at early phase of main injection that will also decrease fuel amount injected into cylinder during the ignition delay period. The injection rate is increased at middle phase of main injection that will shorten injection time as well as slow combustion period; combustion will be completed within a more effective crank angular range of engine so as to boost output power, reduce fuel consumption and decrease soot emissions. Fuel supply is cut off quickly at last phase of main injection to minimize unburnt fuel and reduce exhaust smoke & hydrocarbon emissions.
